Intro

We are excited to introduce the vault update policy. It is a handy tool to share Zxbase data between devices while controlling the data flow.

If you were happily working with passwords and notes on your desktop, but now you want them to be available on your phone - remember that Zxbase does not store any data in the cloud. To access the data from multiple devices, you will need to pair your devices and enable vault synchronization. By that, you will also backup the data. Zxbase will replicate the vault on all enabled devices.

Pairing

Go to the Peers tab, and tap on the ‘Add a peer’ icon.

add peer

You will need to scan or copy another device’s Zxbase Identity and give a peer a nickname. To get Zxbase Identity, go to Settings → Identity.

identity

Do the same on the other device. First time, it may take up to 1 minute for devices to authenticate each other and establish a peer-to-peer connection. The peer indicator will go green once the peer is online.

Sync

To enable vault synchronization, go to Vault → Sync. Tap on ‘Select Peers’ and choose peers you want to share the vault. Do it on both syncing devices.

select peer

Choose an appropriate update policy to manage incoming updates:

  1. Apply automatically: sync vaults as soon as a new update arrives.
  2. Approve manually: approve all incoming updates.
  3. Ignore: no updates from peers are allowed.

Zxbase will display warnings for you to sync the current vault revision or approve an incoming update.
